Junior Spider Website Award

Newsletters and Notes

On Friday 18th December 2009,
St. Cronan's was awarded an Eircom Junior Spider Award
for its School and Class Websites.

Four boys went into Eircom Headquarters with Mr O Broin,
who is in charge of the school websites to collect the award.

Our school website won an award for the Best Educational Website for Primary Schools in Ireland. We were asked to go into Dublin and collect our award. Dylan O'Connor, Jack Megannety, Jack Harvey and I represented our school. On the way there, we had a bit of time to spare, so we went into RTE studios and went into the Fair City set Carrigstown and on the way out we saw Ryan Tubridy getting in to his car and we waved at him.

When we got there we got to look at other winning websites. They were very impressive. Then we got food. There were wedges, sausages and chicken. It was lovely. Then we went to the award ceremony, and when we went up to receive the award, we also got certificates. When we were leaving we got gift bags with lots of cool stuff inside them.

On Friday the 18th of December, 3 boys from my class and I went to Dublin because our school won an award for Best Educational Website in Ireland. The awards were presented by Eircom and were called the 'Junior Spider Awards'. There were lots of other winning websites. There was all kinds of websites there. There were websites in Irish, ones in English from Primary and Secondary schools.

The man who was presenting it was Aidan Power from RTE's 'The Cafe'. There were lots of different people there, like people from Intel, CJ Fallon and Eircom and lots of other big companies. When they presented the award, we got a certificate and a trophy. The trophy had a spider web on it and the name of our school. On the way out we got a goodie bag.
